How does Pigment Removal treatment work?

Laser light is released in short pulses that are absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions (i.e age spots, melesma). The rapid absorption to the skin of light energy heats the skin layers and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells without damaging the skin surface.

The skins natural behaviour to the laser light is to reboot natural formed collagen and grow new skin cells. Your old skin can form a slight scab and with that the dark pigmented lesion will naturally come off.

How does the treatment feel?

Most patients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable and no anaesthesia is required.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion but typically 1 to 3 sessions are required at 4 to 6 week intervals.

The consultation Procedure

Before any treatment begins, you must first undergo a FREE consultation. We will discuss options, your medical history and we will then decide if laser treatment is right for you. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.
