Medway's Laser Pigmentation Removal Specialists

How does Pigment Removal treatment work?

Laser pulses emitting light are absorbed rapidly by pigmented lesions having a high melanin concentration, such as melasma or age spots. The skin layers become warm due to this energy, leading to the elimination of cells with a rich melanin content without harming the surface layer.

As a result of the laser light, new cells are produced and collagen is regenerated within the skin. This leads to the formation of a mild scab, which causes the removal of the dark lesion in due time.

How does the treatment feel?

Most patients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable and no anaesthesia is required.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments will depend on the size and type of the pigmented lesion but, usually, one to three sessions are required at four to six week intervals.
