How does Pigment Removal treatment work?

Short pulses of laser light are quickly absorbed by pigmented lesions (like age spots or melasma) as they contain large amounts of melanin. The resulting energy from such absorption warms the layered skin, destroying only those cells that are abundant with melanin, leaving the overall surface untouched.

The laser light stimulates skin to create fresh collagen and cells, forming a scab. With time, this dark lesion will naturally be shed off.

How does the treatment feel?

Most patients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable and no anaesthesia is required.

How many treatments are necessary?

Normally, one to three sessions are required at four to six week intervals but the number of required treatments will entirely depend on the size and the type of the pigmented lesion.
